It took 3 tries to get this playground. The first time was the dreaded dead battery, the second was on the way home from Open Farm Day and we somehow drove past without seeing it. So finally on what was one of the last playgrounds visits of the year (on Nov 10) we made it! It was worth coming back.
The jungle gyms are pretty standard fare, they are good with lots of climbing and slides, the swaying sofa thing is a blast. My near 4 year old had to hold on for dear life as we got that thing rocking. But the real gem, and so far on my journey around the Island the only place I’ve seen these, are the pieces of exercise equipment.
There are 6 of them, all functional and seem like they would be give a descent workout, They are adult sized (or at least big kid sized) so the boys couldn’t give them a try. I tried all of them and could see structuring a workout around them while I leave the boys to have a play on the other stuff.
There is a also baseball diamond and basketball court. Unvisited was the community centre so I don’t know what goes on there. Someone contacted me about the ‘shack’ which you can see in the photo gallery. You can book birthday parties and I suppose other parties and use the building. This place is a bit remote but It’s worth the drive to Fort Augustus.
